Shrewsbury and the surrounding Shropshire county area provide a pleasant rural environment with affordable housing and motorway access to nearby city amenities.

This includes routine QA, dosimetry and treatment planning activities, commissioning of new equipment and techniques and participation in R&D projects to facilitate a state-of-the-art service.

The radiotherapy service provides an extended treatment day of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This would be worked over four days. The post holder would also be expected to work flexibly within this pattern.

The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital treatment centre is based around three Varian Truebeam linacs and uses an Eclipse/ARIA networked system. The linacs are aged 5, 1 and 0 years and permit us to offer innovative radiotherapy to our catchment population of Shropshire and Mid Wales. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust radiotherapy physics team comprises nine Clinical Technologists and eight Clinical Scientists supporting radiotherapy services.
