Our vision is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we serve and our values are important in our everyday work: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence

We are keen to recruit band 5/6 midwives to join our midwifery team. We are situated in a rural locality and deliver just fewer than 2000 births per annum. Our demographics are such that we care for women and their families from the Powys/ Shropshire and Worcestershire border, which geographically covers a diverse area with a service group that requires differing maternity needs. The Maternity Unit is a small mixed Obstetric/Midwife Led Unit which caters for low, medium and high risk maternity cases. Home births are actively promoted and professional development and training are offered on-site and through the University of Worcester. We actively promote normal births with key service innovations including reducing the caesarean section rate and the promotion of birth normality.

We have recently achieved baby friendly stage 2 and now working towards stage 3

We are keen to nurture midwives to develop within their roles and support clinical leadership development. Band 6 midwives are encouraged to undertake further study including NIPE and the teaching and assessors qualification. We have a midwifery academy which serves to support continuous professional development for newly qualified midwives. .

We are looking for midwives who are excited about the challenge of today’s midwifery, keen to work towards patient safety, have excellent communication skills and are advocates for women and their families.
