The Trust serves a population of over 330,000 across south west Surrey. We are a specialist tertiary cancer centre, offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services to a population of up to two million.

A regional cancer centre for Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire, it is also a tertiary specialist centre for ENT and Maxillofacial surgery. It attracts referrals from across the whole country for other specialties (i.e. urology). The Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (key-hole surgery) is one of only three such training units in the UK.

The Trust has strong links with the nearby University of Surrey and staff are well supported if they wish to undertake further study. As well as this, staff are able to develop and enhance skills and knowledge by undertaking post-qualification support and training at the hospital’s dedicated Education Centre. These are just some of the training and development opportunities available to staff.

The Trust celebrated its 150th birthday on 27 April 2016.


Band 7 Lab and Quality Lead - Bowel Cancer Screening Hub for South of England

Full / Part time (minimun 30 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Quality and Laboratory Lead within the NHS Bowel Screening Programme, Southern Hub.

The NHS Bowel Screening Programme provides screening for all 60 – 74 year olds in England, and the Southern Hub based in Guildford organises and provides bowel cancer screening for the South of England covering a population of 15.2 million.

This exciting and high profile programme is soon to move to a new testing method and as Quality and Laboratory Lead you will be key to the successful delivery and on-going success of this new test.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of working within a laboratory and leadership who is looking to join our dynamic team.

This post holder will manage the activities of the Laboratory with BMS colleagues and be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management system within the hub.

The post holder will have line management experience, sound judgement, decision making skills and will bring an enthusiastic approach to the development and continued roll out and delivery of this national programme across the South of England.
