…to help make us a valued and trusted partner within our care system, that delivers safe effective care to our local population.

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute hospital and specialist healthcare services for approximately 800,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale, an area covering 3,400 square miles. Our annual turnover is approaching £0.5bn and our workforce of around 9,000 staff deliver care in community settings as well as across our eight hospital sites. We are proud to be a partner with the Hull York Medical School in providing clinical placements and training for future doctors at Scarborough and York Hospitals.

With the New Year come new developments for the Trust: 2019 will see a review of Acute Services in Scarborough move into its next phase, in tandem with a £40 million investment in Scarborough Hospital. This forms part of a refreshed five-year strategy to position our major, multisite teaching hospital Trust as a collaborative leader within a system that provides great care to our communities.

We are now seeking an outstanding individual to join our Board of Directors as Chief Nurse to help deliver this vision while providing exemplary, inspirational leadership to our nursing and midwifery workforce. As a senior nurse/midwife with strong experience of working in a complex acute organisation at (or close to) board level, you will bring with you a comprehensive understanding of the operational pressures that come with working in our health and care economy, a track-record for translating strategic intent into operational reality and an ability to innovate across professions and organisations to improve and transform the delivery of care for our patients.

You will need to bring reserves of personal energy for the challenges ahead, a tenacious spirit and a personal ambition to provide outstanding patient care to our community. In return you will play a leading role in the development of the organisation, working with a highly professional and skilled team of people at all levels, in the heart of beautiful North Yorkshire.

The deadline for applications is 12pm on 12 February 2019.

The selection process for the position will take place over two-days, 20-21 February at York Teaching Hospital.  Shortlisted applicants will need to attend both dates.
