We provide a large number of mental and physical health services. Poor physical and mental health are linked and our ambition is for people to have their physical and mental health problems identified, assessed and treated at the same time.

This is a new role developed to support the existing Portering service ahead of the transition to the new Broadmoor Hospital.

 

The Site-wide Portering Department is responsible for providing Portering services across Broadmoor Hospital to support a range of services in meeting their day-to-day requirements, and operates 7 days a week. This includes delivery of mail, newspapers, foodstuffs, laundry, and many other goods to both patient and non-patient areas. The Site-wide Portering Department plays a vital role in ensuring the safe well-being of patients, staff and visitors to the Hospitals.

 

The Portering Team Leader will work on a shift pattern including late shifts, but not nights. Weekend and Bank Holiday shifts will be required. The post holder will report directly to the Portering & Waste Supervisor.

 

As a valued member of the Portering team you will undertake a wide variety of portering duties which will include food service delivery, waste disposal, laundry distribution, postal deliveries, stock deliveries and co-ordinating other portering requests.

 

Within this post you will need -

 

    • Good verbal and written communication skills.

 

    • Excellent customer service skills.

 

    • Understanding of health and safety issues.

 

    • The ability to work within a team as well as on your own.

 

    • The ability to use tact and diplomacy in all situations.

 

    • Basic computer skills.

 

    • You should be flexible in an environment that can be unpredictable, so the ability to keep calm under pressure is paramount.

 

    • A valid full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
