The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme has fundamentally changed the way in which psychological treatments are provided in the NHS in England. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of this major national initiative in Herefordshire. We are looking for people who have the energy, enthusiasm and skills to join our service and who are committed to making a difference within primary care and the wider community.

The role of the Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) team leader will involve delivering day-to-day coordination and supervision of PWP’s within the Herefordshire IAPT ‘Let’s Talk’ service, providing caseload and clinical skills supervision to trainee and qualified PWP’s. The role will be multi-faceted and will involve consultation, education, training and supervision as well as carrying a clinical caseload. You will be required to contribute to the smooth running of all aspects of the service where the PWP role has an influence, ensuring that assessments and ongoing treatment are delivered at a high quality level and consistent with operational standards.You will provide high volume Low Intensity interventions, delivering a range of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.In 2018 our service is looking to move into offering digital therapies and your role will be essential in working on this project and supporting its implementation across the service.

Potential candidates will hold the Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Interventions (PWP) for a minimum of 2 years, and will have had previous experience of working with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties within Primary Care Services. You must be prepared to undertake further training in delivering supervision. This post requires a high level of communication skills, including effective liaison with key staff both within service and the wider organisation and NHS. The post holder must be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure within a new role in a developing service.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory trainingand post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
