The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA) unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

The Alliance provides the benefits of scale but delivers this locally through multiple hospital sites which make up four new Care Organisations – Bury/Rochdale, North Manchester, Oldham and Salford. Using our mantra of ‘Saving lives, Improving lives’, the aim is for our Care Organisations to work closely with the communities they serve to deliver safe, high quality and reliable care, which are trusted, connected and pioneering.

Our Care Organisations are designed to operate within our group arrangement of hospitals, community and healthcare services which bring together over 17,000 staff and the services of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. The Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA) is looking for an engaging, experienced and astute senior leader to provide executive leadership to AQuA due to the planned retirement of the current CEO in June this year.

AQuA is an NHS health and care quality improvement organisation at the forefront of transforming the safety and quality of healthcare. Based in the North West, AQuA works with over 60 member organisations, with an aim to provide quality improvement expertise for the NHS and wider health and social care systems.
We are recruiting for a Chief Executive (CEO) to lead on the strategic direction and growth of AQuA, ensuring the organisation continues to thrive in a complex and fast changing environment with a current focus on:

    • Supporting System Transformation


    • Delivering Person Centred Care


    • Building Capability for Improvement

You will bring consolidated experience of working with Boards and a strong track record of inspiring, developing and leading teams to high performance. Outstanding communication and engagement skills will allow the post holder to build successful relationships with our members and customers across the NHS and wider health and social care sector whilst maintaining a strong visible presence for the AQuA brand.

You will be responsible for managing a budgeted income in excess of £5m and for securing effective engagement of members, customers and AQuA staff in the strategic planning and delivery process.

In addition to having an excellent knowledge of the NHS and wider public sector policy context and culture, previous experience working at CEO / Executive level in a similar role is essential.
