We are delighted to announce that we are looking for Children and Young Person Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners/Brief Intervention Practitioners for Leeds.

Applicants will hold a qualification as a Child Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, or a similar university-based qualification in a relevant field such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, counselling, Brief Interventions etc.

The successful post holders will deliver high-quality, brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This will involve working in partnership with children, young people and families in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes, as well as supporting and empowering children, young people and families to make informed choices about intervention and therapeutic strategies. They will work alongside partner agencie s including schools, clusters and social care.

Key skills needed are an ability to triage/screen referrals, risk assessment and management, organisational and IT skills, ability to work under pressure, and exceptional engagement skills with young people and families. Use of outcome measures will be an integral part of the role by way of screening difficulties, tracking progress and collaboratively agreeing goals with young people and families. Clinical supervision and caseload management support will be provided by Leeds CAMHS clinicians, as well as opportunities to learn more about wider Leeds CAMHS and access internal mental health training. There are a number of exciting new projects in the upcoming months that successful applicants will be involved in implementing and utilising e.g. use of apps, self referral and online support.

The posts are currently based in the Leeds MindMate SPA at Merrion House in Leeds city centre.

If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48.83 or Standard £30) from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
