Applications are invited for this well established post in paediatrics.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian who would like to develop their skills in paediatric dietetics. If successful you will be working alongside another part time band 6 paediatric Dietitian, and supported by our Band 7 paediatric lead, delivering a dietetic service to our paediatric patients in a range of settings including the hospitals of Warrington and Halton, the community, schools and child development centres.

You will cover multidisciplinary feeding clinics twice a week, based in Warrington and Runcorn. In the feeding clinic you will see children with complex feeding difficulties, alongside a speech and language therapist. You will be required to assess and deliver nutritional care plans for a variety of conditions including failure to thrive, sensory feeding issues, general fussy eating, texture modified diets and home enteral feeding. You will also provide a dietetic service to a special needs school once a month and have the opportunity to cover general paediatric clinics or other specialist clinics.

You will be working closely with the multi- disciplinary paediatric teams to deliver enhanced care.

There will also be the opportunity to plan and deliver training to other professionals from a variety of backgrounds including health and education.

You will be a key member of the service and will assist the Paediatric lead to develop paediatric services across the hospital and community.

You will need excellent communication, negotiation, and mentoring, planning and organisational skills.

We are involved in the training of student dietitians and you will be expected to take part in these training programmes delivering within your specialist clinical area.

You will be provided with the opportunities to further develop your skills and knowledge within a supporting learning environment.

Both hospitals are central within the North West region with Chester, North Wales and the Lake District are less than an hour away. The North Wales coast can be reached in less than 2 hours.

All posts are subject to NHS Employment Check Standards including a DBS check, if applicable. A charge of £39 (Standard) or £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.

NB. Current employees of Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who have had a satisfactory DBS check, carried out by this Trust during the last 3 years, will not be required to undertake a new one. Where staff have not had a check (classification appropriate to the post offered) within the last 3 years, they will be required to undertake and pay for this, as per the arrangements above.
