We are looking to recruit full time Band 5 Nurses for both fixed term and permanent roles in the 0-19 Healthy Child Service.

You will be part of a skill mix team and work under the leadership of a SCPHN School Nurse delivering the 5-19 pathways to the local children, young people and families. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward thinking and innovative service. during the development of the 0-19 Healthy Child Service.


The role is varied and will involve the promotion of health and well-being for the school aged population of Leeds in a variety of settings, including clinics, schools and homes. This will be done within a Public Health Framework working with children, young people, their parents/carers and other agencies.

You will be a registered nurse and experience of working with children and young people is desirable but not essential (those from adult, children, learning disabilities and mental health will be considered).

You need to have an awareness of the needs of children including those with learning difficulties and complex health care needs. An understanding of safeguarding issues is essential.

Effective partnership working is essential as are excellent communication skills to promote engagement and ensure our clients' needs are addressed. A robust preceptorship will support your professional development.

The positions are full time, all year round. The core service hours are 8.30 am until 5.00pm, with flexible working opportunities following a period of induction and preceptorship.

There is an expectation that you will work across the city within the wider school health teams, and so the ability to travel independently and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes is essential. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.

If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48.83 or Standard £30) from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
