In 2002 Inclusion was created as part of the award winning South Staffordshire & Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, now known as Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. It was developed to provide evidence based innovative services to beneficiaries across England with the flexibility to provide local solutions to local communities but with the governance and commitment to quality of the NHS.

Successful in its endeavors, Inclusion has grown to both substance misuse and mental health services in the community, residential and prisons. Employing over 500 staff, including Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, Drug & Alcohol Recovery Workers, Peer Mentors and Volunteers. We provide services to in excess of 19,000 services users per annum across the Home Counties, Midlands, East of England up to the North of England.

The range of services we provide allows us to work with our service users in prisons, extending this into community settings, tackling both substance misuse and mental health concerns. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) with Mental Health experience to join our team at HMP Long Lartin delivering interventions within the Preparation PIPE - Psychologically Informed Planned Environment.

If you have a desire to work therapeutically with people experiencing difficulties relating to Personality disorder and enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team then this would be a challenging and rewarding post.

PIPEs are designed to support effective movement through a clear pathway of psychologically informed intervention. This involves a whole multidisciplinary team approach including prison operational and clinical staff working together to build and maintain an enabling environment.

As part of this overall pathway, the implementation of the PIPE model aims to provide and support the following outcomes:

  • A reduction in repeat serious sexual and/or violent offending & Improved psychological health of offenders

  • Improve psychological health, wellbeing, pro social behaviour and relational outcomes

  • Improve the competence, confidence and attitudes of staff working with complex offenders who are likely to have Personality Disorder

  • Increase the efficiency, cost effectiveness and quality of OPD Pathway Services

As part of the PIPE the OT will contribute to the key outcomes of the service and actively contribute to:

Engagement with the assessment process

Input to formulations

  • Working with Operational and Clinical staff to build on the Enabling Environment

  • Lead on the development and provision of structured OT and creative sessions

The Preparation PIPE is a new service and as such you will be influential in service development. You will benefit from supervision and will continuing professional development will be supported.

The role will also involve taking the lead for shaping the Occupational Therapy service within the Inclusion Prison Integrated services in the Staffordshire and Worcestershire region.
