Hywel Dda University Health Board is located in West Wales in an area of outstanding beauty. It covers the National Park coastline of Pembrokeshire and rolling hills of rural Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. The area consists of hamlets, villages, market towns as well as some larger towns. It is an ideal place to live and work.


We are seeking an experienced, HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or UKCP Psychotherapist, to lead on the delivery of Psychological Mindedness workshops for staff teams in mental health services. We are committed to developing a psychologically minded service where patients at all levels of the service receive a psychologically minded service from a practitioner (registered or not registered) within the service.


The post will be embedded in the Integrated Psychological Therapy Services and will have a three county remit. You will be responsible for designing teaching, and training material, for workshops based on a theoretical knowledge of psychology, psychological formulation and psychological models of care. Teaching in counselling skills will be key to this and applications are welcomed from applicants who have a background in this as well as psychotherapy skills.


Delivery of workshops will be a major part of the role combined with facilitating team clinical supervision and consultation for staff teams, when required. Additionally, the postholder will carry their own clinical caseload for 2 sessions a week.


This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for someone that is enthusiastic about developing a psychologically minded workforce and who has good workshop presentation skills, good teaching skills, good skills in staff team supervision, good knowledge and application of counselling skills as well as a good understanding of psychological theory that guides psychological formulation. We are looking for someone with a caring and compassionate approach to their work. You will receive excellent supervision.


The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
