Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is offering to support successful applicants to undertake the NMC validated Return to Practice Programme. The course is provided by our partners Anglia Ruskin University and is for qualified Nurses whose registration with the NMC has lapsed.

The Return to Contemporary Practice for nursing programme has both practical and academic elements designed to support successful candidates return to nursing practice. The exact duration and nature of the course and workplace based experience will depend on the length of time candidates’ registration has lapsed for. Successful candidates will be provided with a clinically based sign-off mentor whilst working towards the required clinical skills competencies for reregistration.

Royal Papworth Hospital is a leading Cardiothoracic Centre with a reputation for innovation and learning. Previous Cardiothoracic experience is not required and we welcome applications from qualified nurses looking to return to practice from any adult nursing background.

Programme intake dates are set by Anglia Ruskin University, and you will be supported to attend ten study days at either the university’s campus at Cambridge or Peterborough.

  • Course fees are paid by Health Education England
  • Successful applicants will receive £500 bursary (non-taxable) to assist with course demands

Successful applicants will be expected to work flexibly to enable them to work with their mentor as much as possible. We would also encourage joining the Trust as a Health Care Support Worker prior to starting the course to assist you to refresh your basic skills and knowledge and build confidence working within the NHS.

Successful applicants will be supported at Royal Papworth Hospital throughout the duration of the programme by a registered sign-off mentor, with the expectation that you will work as a registered nurse at Royal Papworth on successful completion of the programme.
