We have an exciting opportunity for a specialist pharmacist to join our team in this clinical post. We are looking for an aspirational and motivated pharmacist with experience in hospital clinical pharmacy services, to develop and deliver the Trust’s Antimicrobial stewardship programme. You will lead, develop, deliver and evaluate pharmacy services for antimicrobial stewardship and infection management throughout the Trust in accordance with local and national standards and policies, ensuring the safe, clinical and cost effective use of antimicrobials.

You will act as the key link between the pharmacy team and the Trust’s microbiology and infectious diseases departments. You will be supported through our comprehensive in-house training programme. We have robust educational links with local universities and we would encourage you to complete the Independent Prescribing qualification if this is not already achieved.

The post will be based at Sheffield Children’s hospital which is one of only four independent specialist paediatric hospitals in the country. We provide dedicated healthcare for children and young people, including highly specialised health care such as neurosurgery, oncology, endocrinology, specialist orthopaedics, neonatal surgery, metabolic disease, gastroenterology, respiratory diseases, intensive care, cystic fibrosis and neurology. Our aim is to be at the forefront of best practice in delivering high quality and integrated care to children and young people.

The successful candidates will have proven clinical skills, excellent communication and organisational skills and a desire to improve patient’s quality of care. You will thrive on the opportunities and challenges provided by a busy and varied supportive work environment. You will join a pharmacy department with over 60 staff, including 23 other pharmacists with expertise in a wide range of specialities, in providing pharmacy services to children. You will be expected to participate in the full range of services provided by the pharmacy including clinical ward service, dispensary services, aseptic services and medicines information when required. Candidates will be expected to participate in the department’s emergency duty rota, weekend & Bank Holiday rotas on a pro-rata basis. It is essential that you have a Pharmacy Degree, Registration with GPhC, and have a Post Graduate clinical qualification. This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
