Occupational Therapist – Band 5 – Berkshire

The job is based at Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne, Berkshire RG45 7EG.


Broadmoor Hospital is a specialist service that provides assessment, treatment and care in conditions of high security for men from London and the south of England. It is one of three high-security psychiatric hospitals in England, and is internationally recognised, both for work with patients and for our extensive research activities. We treat men with mental illness and personality disorders who represent a high degree of risk to themselves or to others.


All salaries are inclusive of High Cost Area allowance and are on a pro rata per annum basis.


Occupational Therapist – Berkshire


Band 5 £23,023 - £ 29,608 plus higher environmental lead 5% and Recruitment and Retention Premium


Full time 37.5 hours per week


This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established, staffed and resourced and respected Occupational Therapy service with patients with a primary diagnosis of personality disorder or mental illness.


The post will be based within the high security forensic environment and offers a great development opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to develop their skills. The hospital will be moving to a new bespoke hospital which will be the most modern high security forensic hospital in the country focusing on innovative care to a challenging and interesting patient group. We have a strong commitment to multi-professional working within the clinical team, focusing on reducing risk and offending behaviors.


We are looking to recruit a resourceful, motivated Occupational Therapist, experienced in mental health (though not necessarily in forensic) who enjoys new challenges.


We offer a number of opportunities including regular supervision, comprehensive CPD packages and the opportunity to be involved in the development of the service.



All staff members take part in a comprehensive induction and there will be opportunities to develop clinical and specialist skills in this area.


The post is located at Broadmoor Hospital, which is located in a beautiful part of Berkshire, easily accessed via both the M3 & M4 motorways.
