Integrated Pathology Partnerships ("iPP") operate theSouthwest Pathology Services contract (“SPS”) part of the joint venture betweenYeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Integrated Pathology Partnerships Ltd.

iPP is a fast growing, commercially effective, UK company dedicated to enabling UK healthcare organisations to strengthen the delivery and efficiency of high quality pathology services to patients, partnering with the NHS and numerous private healthcare companies.

Our Cytopathology department provides Cervical Cytology services to Somerset and West Dorset CCGs, and a diagnostic non-gynae service to Musgrove Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The well-equipped Thinprep-based laboratory also performs in-house high-risk HPV testing using Hologic Cervista.

We are currently looking to expand our team operating the SPS contract and seek an enthusiastic HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist.  The Gynae Cytopathology department is based on the Lisieux Way site.  Flexitime working is in operation – Monday to Friday.

Required skills and experience

Applications are sought from self-motivated candidates who can offer experience in the following:

  • Greater than 2 years’ post registration experience of working in a biomedical laboratory at post graduate level.
  • You must hold a BSc and ideally hold the IBMS specialist qualification in cytopathology or equivalent and an NHSCSP recognised Certificate of Competence in Cervical Cytology. Consideration will be given to Band 5 applicants who are currently undertaking their IBMS specialist portfolio.  Full support will be given towards completion.
  • Experience in HPV testing/Andrology would be an advantage but not essential.
  • The Department is fully CPA accredited and HCPC/IBMS approved for training. We support Continuous Professional Development and encouragement is given to attend and participate in both internal and external lectures / seminars
