In 2016-17 the Trust had 789 studies where 14,972 patients took part in vital clinical research in various aspects of healthcare. The Trusts research strategy is to improve the health and care of our patients and to consolidate Newcastle’s position as the premier location for clinical research in the UK.

Newcastle Hospitals is the only Trust in the region with a Financial Management team dedicated to supporting Research and Innovation. The Research Finance team is looking to support the Trust’s strategy by recruiting a positive and self-motivated individual to provide financial management support to research delivery teams. Research delivery is undertaken in various locations across the Trust including the Sir Bobby Robson Unit, Clinical Research Facility and the Clinical Ageing Research Unit.

An opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated Assistant Accountant to work closely with R&D staff to ensure clinical trial invoices are raised on a timely basis and expenditure invoices relating to trials are authorised and processed for payment within Corporate Governance guidelines.

You will assist the Assistant Directorate Accountant with the production of the R&D financial statements and the provision of a high quality financial management service.

Under the direct supervision of more senior staff you will have reporting and budgeting responsibility for specific areas of R&D Finance and will provide administrative support to the Trust R&D Finance Team and Finance related R&D committees.

We are seeking candidates who will be an enthusiastic member of the team with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently with a flexible approach to changing and/or conflicting priorities.
