We are East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), an organisation focused on delivering a high standard of emergency and urgent care to our patients across the region.

About you

Are you passionate about patient care? An exciting opportunity has arisen to gain your Technician qualification and join our frontline workforce.

You will be physically fit, reliable, confident, caring and an empathetic individual. To deliver high quality care to patients and their loved ones, you will be able to work well under pressure as an individual and as part of a team.

You will already hold a clean full driving licence* including Categories B with two years driving experience. If you are successful through the selection process, obtaining provisional C1 is an essential requirement. If successful, the full C1 category will need to be obtained prior to your first day in employment with EMAS and will be a conditional part of your offer. You will have a minimum of five GSCE’s or equivalent at Grade C or above, including Maths, English and Science.

You will also have a high level of self-motivation towards Continual Professional Development and career progression

An apprenticeship route is available for this role.

*Applicants with a minor speeding offence may be considered (no more than three points).

** Salary - The training rate for this role is currently £17,522.25.


An understanding of the way an Ambulance Service operates is desirable, through your own research, having seen this through previous work experience or by attending ambulance public relations displays and events.

  • Competency Based Interview

  • Numeracy and Literacy test

  • Assessment of driving competency
