As the only organisation in the UK that provides organs, tissue and blood components, you will join NHSBT at an exciting time in our development. Working within the Central Planning Team on key areas surrounding supply of red cells and blood components, you will therefore control the national collection, manufacture and distribution of blood components and products, ensuring they are allocated appropriately and that waste is minimised. Maintaining accurate reports on blood component availability and expiry, your recommendations will ensure that we continue to develop our services. Working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders such as stock holding units, you will plan for every eventuality on a countrywide basis, ensuring enough stocks are available to cope with changes in demand, and you will assist in the development and improvement of software tools to further enhance our specialist capabilities.

Based at any NHSBT site with possibility of some home working. You will be required to occasionally travel to other sites. As you will be working with spreadsheets and producing analysis of data, you will need to have good IT skills including Excel & word, plus knowledge of any other relevant Inventory Optimisation software. If you also have an understanding of Access, Business Objects, SQL or relevant Inventory Optimisation software would be distinctly advantageous. With the ability to produce quantitative reports and a post graduate qualification in a topic relating to the supply chain or equivalent experience in the field, you will have an understanding of blood products and be keen to develop your knowledge of factors affecting platelets and their distribution. You will also be competent in analysing stock and demand data, predicting needs and putting the relevant measures in place.
