About the Trust

North Manchester General Hospital is located in Crumpsall, 3.5 miles north of Manchester City Centre and is now part of the wider family of MFT hospitals creating a Single Hospital Service for Manchester.

 

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • The post holder will provide medical transcription and administrative support on attachment to clinical teams; guided by standard operating procedures.
  • Type letters to patients, GPs, medical staff and any other required addressee following clinic attendance, ward discharge and other patient contacts. 
  • Carry out administrative instructions that are dictated in the letters transcribed to include booking appointments and admissions via the NMGH Booking & Scheduling Team using the correct proformas.
  • Record any requests for investigations dictated in the clinic letters onto the Trust’s patient investigation tracker.

 

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS 
  2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times 
  3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation 

 

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

  • Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
  • Microsoft office skills- outlook, word, and excel
  • Medical Terminology knowledge
  • Excellent typing speed
  • Ability to proof read letters and take dictation
  • Previous secretarial or administrative experience

Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
