Procurement Supervisor - Ashton-under-Lyne


NHS Professionals are looking for a Materials Management and Procurement Supervisor for Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, Fountain Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 9RW.

Hours: Monday – Friday 08:00 – 16:00 (some flexibility with start and finish times)

Duration 6 months (with possibility of being made permanent)

Band/Pay rate: Band 6 £17.46ph plus accrued holiday pay


Main duties and responsibilities:

· To coordinate and oversee the day to day operation of activities relating to stock control, materials management and logistics within the Procurement Team

· Manage a team of purchasing assistants to ensure delivery of an efficient and accurate materials management service.

· To monitor and address stock and supply issues to ensure mitigations are in place.

· Day to day management of staff, planning daily work schedules, organising cover for sickness/holidays

· Coordinate and ensure effective training of procurement assistants in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

· Provide senior support to the Purchasing Assistants to ensure proactive and efficient responses to supply queries and emails and to ensure that opportunities for recognising efficiencies are pursued.

· To understand the Trust standing financial instructions to ensure all orders placed by the materials management team comply.

· Provide senior oversight and management of the PPE store and logistics arrangements including the management of movement of stock around site.

· Oversee the recording of stock data daily including stock in, stock out and stock counts.

· Oversight of National and Regional data submissions relating to PPE supplies and any other as appropriate.

· Responsibility of management of adequate stock levels of PPE and general clinical and non-clinical stocked supplies/equipment across the Trust

· Develop proactive, effective processes that support an efficient use of time and resource in the team.

· Work with departmental clinicians and support staff to ensure the correct equipment, medical consumables and services are available for patient care.

· Liaise with external partners such as NHS Supply Chain on a regular basis

· Close working relationship with our receipt and distribution team to ensure efficient deliv

 Skills required:

· Knowledge of NHSSC/eProcurement

· Effective leadership skills

· Foundation diploma (level 4) of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and/or equivalent experience in Logistics, supply chain, materials management and distribution or be willing to work towards this qualification

  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to resolve complex queries, investigate complex financial queries, analyse detailed data to identify errors and discrepancies
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both internally within the organisation and externally outside of the organization

· Team player who is self-motivated with the ability to motivate others, set high standards and develop a team

· Good time management, planning, organisation and ability to prioritise workload to fulfil the requirements of the role

· Be able to work under pressure adhering to strict deadlines in a professional and patient manner

  • Ability to analyse areas of work to identify areas which would benefit from improvement
  • Good analytical, numerical and IM&T skills
  • Ability to create and manipulate spread sheets and databases

· Knowledge of order process and catalogue systems

  • Sound understanding of the concept of e-commerce
  • Commitment to continued professional development
  • Able to be flexible in approach to working hours and locations
