Administrative Officer (XN03)

Job Reference: 298-CORCN-2994

Chief Nurse
298 NMC OSCE Test Centre
The Leeds General Infirmary
£20,330 to £21,777 pa

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) is one of the largest and busiest NHS acute healthcare providers in Europe and is a regional and national centre for specialist treatment.

LTHT is delighted to have been awarded one of five contracts to become a national OSCE testing centre. All nurses recruited from overseas, or nurses that have taken significant time away from their nursing career, must complete an Observed Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as part of their ‘Test of Competence’ before they can be registered to practice in the UK.

The Test of Competence is a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirement and enables professionals to demonstrate to assessors that they have the skills and knowledge to care for people safely and effectively.

We will be working with the NMC to support the NHS, private and third sector organisations in expanding the nursing workforce in the UK. We are the first NHS organisation to be awarded a contract and it will be an incredible asset to increasing capacity in the North of the country.

LTHT is busy developing the new test centre at Josephs Well, co-located with the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI). Josephs Well and the LGI are based in Leeds City Centre, an easily accessible location to both staff and visitors of the centre.

We are looking to open for business in the spring of 2022 and we have a number of opportunities in development to support the running and operation of the test centre and examinations. We are currently looking for motivated and organised Administrative Officer’s to work within the centre here at LTHT.

We are looking for someone with a passion and dedication for delivering a high-quality service. As an Administrative Officer, you will support the LTHT OSCE Centre by:

  • Being a key contact within the LTHT OSCE Centre. Providing a comprehensive booking service to candidates coming through the OSCE Centre.
  • Being the ‘face’ of the service, having first contact with candidates, meeting and greeting people on reception.
  • Dealing with queries efficiently and accurately, providing excellent customer service.
  • Managing your workload, working on your own initiative, but also collaborating with other Administrative Officers, Clinical Staff and Management.

The role demands excellent communication and administration skills and an ability to successfully balance competing priorities. You will be proficient in communicating through email, MS Teams and over the telephone, with an ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel and willing to learn to use new systems to support the LTHT OSCE Centre.

If you have attention to detail, the desired experience, and the skills to support this essential service, then this is the job for you.
