The Trust will support you in this duty by providing ongoing training, support and advice and have a Corporate Safeguarding Team who can be contacted for guidance and the provision of safeguarding supervision.


We have exciting opportunity to join the Liaison Psychiatry Team in Southampton as a Band 7 Clinical Specialist with an educational lead role. The post will be split 50:50 between clinical work and the educational lead role.

The candidate will work along side the UHS lead matron for mental health and other acute hospital colleagues, to design and implement a sustainable training and education programme for our acute hospital colleagues in UHS based on their training needs analysis. The post holder will also develop a rolling ‘in house’ training programme for the Liaison Psychiatry team ensuring this meets PLAN standards.

We are looking for applicants with a strong clinical background, with excellent communication skills and an ability to engage and influence at all levels. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for training and education, and act as a professional role model. They will promote and deliver patient focused care and treatment for patients within the acute hospital. The successful candidates will have excellent leadership skills and work across the acute general hospital to provide mental health assessments and brief interventions to patients in the Emergency Departments and in-patient wards.

The Southampton Liaison Psychiatry Team has recently aligned to the national Core 24 model, the service is now developing to meet the Hampshire and IOW mental health transformation priorities. Liaison psychiatry is an integral part of the 24/7 Urgent Care Model and this is a great opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for education and training to join the expanding team.

The successful candidate will a receive a robust induction and regular supervision and reflective practice.  The post holder will be required to work a flexible shift pattern over 24/7.
