Senior Assistant Psychologist

The Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network is the first of its kind in England, providing a collaborative partnership across specialist rehabilitation inpatient units, outpatients and community services.

To deliver high quality specialist rehabilitation that is inclusive and constantly improving and is available to all patients following traumatic injury or illness, through a co-ordinated rehabilitation pathway across hospital through to community.

Due to the extremely high calibre of previous assistants, applicants should only apply if they have a high 2:1 BSc in psychology. Applicants without this will NOT be shortlisted for interview. Previous experience of working with adults with neurological conditions and/or complex physical health condition is essential to the post. Previous experience of 1:1 therapeutic work, group work, family support and staff training are also of benefit. The multi disciplinary team consists of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nurses and medical consultants; previous experience of working within an NHS setting within the context of a multi-disciplinary team is essential. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Experience of delivering neuropsychological assessments such as the RBANS, WAIS4 and WMS 4 and DKEFS would be advantageous, as would experience of running psychoeducation and or/mindfulness groups.

Regular clinical supervision will be provided by a qualified clinical psychologist, there is opportunity for peer supervision with other assistants working across the network and access to neuropsychology supervision with a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist. The team have a proven track record of supporting high calibre assistants to obtain places on clinical training courses across the country. There are regular CPD opportunities through in house training provided by wider network staff.

We are seeking two motivated, creative and resourceful assistants to join a dynamic team of psychologists. Working in a rehabilitation setting can be both challenging and rewarding; excellent organisation skills, using supervision effectively and displaying appropriate autonomy are all key skills essential to the post.
