The Opportunity

To help support the great work that NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) does to save and improve even more lives, we are looking for a Programme Manager to be part of our Change Delivery Team in the new Plasma Directorate who can drive and deliver the necessary transformation that improves health outcomes.

A recent Government decision to legislate resumption of fractionation of UK plasma for plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs) to be supplied exclusively to the NHS for UK patients benefitting thousands of patients has opened up a fantastic opportunity for NHSBT as the main provider of plasma in the UK. NHSBT has been instructed by the DHSC to immediately build an end-to-end supply chain capability for Plasma for Medicines (PFM).

Meeting this challenge requires a strong and robust programme/project management strategy, looking at how we deliver the plan ensuring high levels of processes, capability and skills dictated by a highly regulated clinical environment. We are building a team of dedicated Programme and project managers who will work with the wider team and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of our change programme within the agreed schedule and quality standards.

The Role

We are looking for a Programme Manager to manage NHSBT Transformation projects to timely and successful conclusions, to ensure that intended project outcomes are in alignment with the business strategies and that all project budgets are managed effectively, and all operational needs are met.

Under the direction of the Portfolio & Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the management of specific programmes/projects, ensuring that they are managed to the highest professional standards and comply with all relevant internal and external standards, regulation and instructions. You will also participate in the development and improvement of the NHSBT Portfolio, Programme and Project Management tools and methods.

You will be expected to manage more than one project at a time at different stages in their lifecycle and you will need to Deputise for the Portfolio & Programme Manager when required.

As you will be in regular contact with all areas of the Plasma Directorate and the wider NHSBT, you will have exceptional communication and influencing skills. Good budgeting and financial control skills are important, and you will have experience of delivering either business transformation projects or local projects within a directorate. In order to deliver new and improved ways of working, you will be a good listener, and you will have the ability to identify the key success factors in delivering a project. You will also have solid prioritisation and organisational skills, and you will be a confident problem-solver with fluent Word, Excel and PowerPoint capabilities. With a PRINCE2® Practitioner Certificate, you will be degree-educated in a relevant subject such as business, management or you will have an equivalent level of experience.

This is a great opportunity to network extensively with a wide variety of stakeholders and to hone your skills in a supportive and friendly environment. We are passionate about growing a workforce of people who may choose to take on new opportunities within the organisation, so we will encourage you to explore the industry-leading training and development prospects on offer. You will also benefit from a competitive benefits package that includes 35 days of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) – and a desirable work/life balance. So join us, and embrace the chance to bring your skills to a welcoming team who will be excited to hear your ideas.

Diversity & Inclusion

We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We welcome applications irrespective of people's age, disability, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, neurodiversity or other personal circumstances. We are particularly keen to hear from those currently under-represented in the organisation. We are committed to policies and procedures that ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process, including the consideration of reasonable adjustments for people who have a disability.
