Therapy Assistant

St Helens and Knowsley Community Specialist Rehab Team (CSRT) Base: Garswood Clinic, Billinge

The Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network (CMRN) hosted by The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist rehabilitation to patients who have suffered traumatic injury or illness across inpatient and community settings.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the community based specialist rehab service as a therapy assistant. This is a 0.6 B3 role working with a friendly team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists to deliver rehabilitation to people presenting with complex rehabilitation needs living in St Helens and Knowsley. The successful candidate will provide clinical support to the physiotherapists and occupational therapists within the CMRN community specialist rehab team. They will assist therapy staff to deliver safe and effective therapy interventions to patients living in the community. This could be jointly with therapists or alone. They will provide clinical administration support to ensure a well organised therapy service alongside the team secretary and team lead. The candidate will receive regular supervision from senior members of the team and have access to peer support.

Candidates must have previous experience of working in a therapy setting and with a multidisciplinary team. Community experience is desirable, but not essential. They must have excellent communication skills and a commitment to team working.

In addition to shared learning opportunities within the wider Community Specialist Rehabilitation Service, you will have access to support and development opportunities from the wider Rehabilitation Network, as well as via The Walton Centre Therapies service.

The post is 22.5 hours working pattern to be negotiated.

The St Helens and Knowsley CSRT is based at Garswood clinic near Billinge St Helens, but the ability to travel freely across St Helens and Knowsley is essential for this post, in additional to occasional travel to The Walton Centre, for training and meetings.

All positions at The Walton Centre are subject to a 6 month probationary period.
