An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Company Secretary to support the NHS Dorset Integrated Care Board and Integrated Care Partnership. Good governance and compliance are fundamental to success as an Integrated Care System and the Company Secretary will play a vital role, acting as the principal advisor to the Board and the organisation on all aspects of governance.

The successful candidate will manage all corporate and Board business and be responsible for ensuring there are sound and integrated corporate governance policies and structures in place and the Integrated Care Board complies with its legal, constitutional, and regulatory requirements.

We are looking to speak with highly knowledgeable individuals who have experience of advising organisations on governance matters, both internally and externally, and have a strong understanding of best practices in organising governance within business, ideally within the health and care sector. To be successful you will be skilled at forming positive relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of seniority

Candidates must be able to communicate with staff and external stakeholders and partners across organisations. Candidates must have the ability to develop effective working relationships and influence all members of the multi-professional teams.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a highly motivated individual who has the knowledge, experience, and confidence to shape and take forward our corporate governance, risk, and compliance strategies.

We are currently in a period of transition. Integrated Care Systems are partnerships of health and care organisations, local government, and the voluntary sector. They exist to improve population health, tackle health inequalities, enhance productivity and help the NHS support broader social and economic development. NHS Dorset took statutory form on 01 July 2022, following the implementation of the Health and Care Bill. It comprises an Integrated Care Board and Integrated Care Partnership. The Integrated Care Board has taken on the CCGs’ functions and broader strategic responsibility for overseeing healthcare strategies for the system.

Coming together as a statutory ICS is a new and exciting way of working and provides greater opportunity to make real, lasting change, far more than we could do by working independently. As an ICS we will commit to ensuring the right start in life, to enabling individuals to thrive with lives to be well lived and to hospital care being available for those who need it.

The Company Secretary will play a pivotal role within the ICS and will report to the NHS Dorset Integrated Care Board Chief Executive Officer who will be responsible for overseeing complex health services and health improvement programmes for the 800,000 people and communities living within Dorset.

The current function comprises a Corporate Office Manager, a Committee and Governance Officer and two Personal Assistants. We offer a supportive environment where your contribution is valued, and development is encouraged.

The position will be based at Vespasian House in Dorchester but with flexibility for blended office and home working. This is a part-time position of 22.5 hours across 3 days. Hours will need to be worked flexibly to meet the demands of the role.

NHS Dorset will work with others to:

  • Improve outcomes in population health and healthcare

  • Tackle inequalities in outcome and access

  • Enhance productivity and value for money

  • Help the NHS deliver broader social and economic development, particularly post the COVID-19 pandemic
