Are you looking for a change and wish to work in a highly specialised setting or wish to further develop the range and breadth of their knowledge and skills in mental health within an eating disorder setting? New and exciting opportunities have arisen at Cotswold House Oxford, for a charge nurse position.

Cotswold House Oxford is a specialist eating disorder service, offering 14 inpatient and 6-day treatment places. We work with adults (over 18) and with young people who are approaching their 18th birthday and likely to require support or treatment into adulthood. We closely work with the Oxford and Buckinghamshire Community Eating Disorder Team and also from a Network of Trusts in the South of England. We also accept referrals from across the country.

Our service provides a stepped model of care, tailored to individual needs. We treat patients wanting recovery; those who want to be able to live safely with their eating disorder and those requiring acute intervention because they have reached a dangerously low weight. Most of our patients are informal, however, we have some patients who are treated under the MHA.

Currently our service is piloting the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-ED). We offer a range of CBT-ED programmes and evidence-based treatments to assist a patient’s return to independent living, including work, training or study. As part of the team, you will have the basic training in CBT-ED. There are opportunities for further learning to masters degree, which are run in collaboration with Oxford Brookes University. There are also opportunities for secondment to other departments with the Trust. The Trust will support you to do any research and quality improvement projects that will improve/inform the service practice.

There will be regular support groups and teaching sessions on a wide range of topics to enhance your experience. We are committed to developing a strong team and workforce and in supporting your preceptorship and career progression.

The ward commits itself to ensuring that care delivery is based on collaborative and continuous assessment of mental and psychological needs, risk reduction, physical, spiritual and social needs. Cotswold House aims to provide services that respects the privacy, dignity, choices and confidentiality of each individual patient, acknowledging their culture, ethnicity, physical ability, gender and religious beliefs.

Applicants should be highly motivated with a willingness to learn. If successful you will be part of the well-established multi-disciplinary team comprising of nurses, occupational therapists, social worker, physiotherapist, psychological therapists, doctors, dieticians, nurses, students, pharmacist, chaplaincy, nursing associate trainees, housekeepers, administrators and consultant.
