We are excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated Speech and Language Therapist to joining our expanding and evolving Autism Diagnosis and Liaison Service team. We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who is experienced in supporting autistic people who can support the diagnostic and post diagnostic journey of our service users. This will include identification of communication needs.

We receive referrals from a number of sources, for diagnostic assessments, signposting and post diagnostic liaison with our partner agencies and other LPFT divisions. We are developing extended post diagnostic services, which will likely include ‘navigation’ services and post diagnostic support, training, groups and short-term interventions for adults recently diagnosed with Autism. We also support Autistic people navigate health, employment and education services, and will be able to create and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families and other organisations providing support. The support offered by the Speech and Language Therapist will include identification and support to manage communication needs, as well as providing training and supporting education and work setting to make reasonable adjustments.

We are looking for interested Speech and Language Therapists, who have experience of working with Autistic adults who have complex unmet needs. The post holder will be experienced in helping people navigate health, employment and education service, and will be able to create and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families and other organisations providing support. If you are newly qualified or have limited experience but feel you will excel in this role and would like to develop and learn, there is an opportunity to be recruited into a Band 5 development post with a specific development plan based on your needs.

Most of our clients are community-based and there is a great deal of working with carers and care systems. We have a well-developed role in providing training and advice to staff from other LPFT divisions, Social Services personnel, care providers and MDT colleagues. This role includes clinical leadership, training, support and supervision. We primarily work Monday-Friday, 9-5, but there will be time when the applicant is required to work out of these hours. We are happy to negotiate the possibility of flexible or remote working with the right candidate.

The successful applicant will receive support from the Team Coordinator and the Clinical Lead. The successful applicant will cover an agreed area within the county of Lincolnshire, which will include both rural and town-based communities. The successful applicant will have to be able to travel to venues within Lincolnshire within journey times and in a manner acceptable to the Trust.

The service works closely with the integrated community Learning Disability teams, which employ a variety of professionals, who provide specialist mental health, physical health liaison and behavioural support services to adults with learning disabilities; as well as providing the Autism Diagnosis and Liaison service (for people who do not have Learning Disabilities) across Lincolnshire.
