This is a national vacancy, the successful candidate may be based at any of our main centres in the UK, final location to be agreed at interview.

Information and data is crucial to every clinical organisation. At NHS Blood and Transplant, however, it’s also tremendously complex. From two million annual blood donations to growing numbers of organs collected and supplied; this goes further than mere data protection ¬– to saving literally millions of lives. In this position, you will play a fundamental role in delivering NHSBTs Data Privacy and Records Management programme to ensure that everything NHSBT develops and delivers and the data we hold is safe and secure.

Acting as the lead for all NHSBT Subject Access Requests (including clinical and staff), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all relevant exemptions are applied, stakeholders are engaged with, and responses drafted and provided to customers in compliance with UK GDPR.

In addition, you will work closely with the Records Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a records management strategy, play a key role in supporting and deputising where required to ensure Freedom of Information Requests are dealt with in a timely and compliant manner as well as working collaboratively to support the triage of police enquiries and complaints.

With a background in a data privacy, you will have strong communication skills to provide advice and guidance in your field and also to support the wider team operations.

Because your work affects everyone across the country, you will need to travel and occasionally work irregular hours and take overnight stays.
