We’re searching for qualified and experienced registered mental health nurses for exciting roles within our Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) unit in Barnstaple.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) you will use your skills, knowledge and understanding of mental health care to assess patients, then develop, implement and evaluate a programme of care for them. As a trust, we embrace the recovery approach, embedding a holistic approach to care.

Our Meadow View Unit is located in North Devon District Hospital and provides assessment and treatment for older people with severe mental health needs such as depression, anxiety and psychosis. We provide a positive environment in which to deliver high quality care, therapy and recreation. The overall focus of care within our OMPH is upon personal recovery – providing hope and rehabilitation to our service users.

About You

You will be passionate about making a difference to people’s lives. You will be responsible for managing and directing the care of vulnerable people we are responsible for.

You will use your skills and experience to develop packages of treatment that focus on recovery, whilst working closely alongside our Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrist, Activities Workers, Psychologists and peer support workers.

Personally, you will be a clear and confident communicator, capable of interacting and working effectively with people who use our services, their families and carers, staff and stakeholders from all backgrounds.

Whilst you will work as part of a MDT, you will also work independently and you will make decisions that change lives every single day.

As a new member of staff to Devon Partnership NHS Trust you will be required to attend a full induction programme at the beginning of your employment. The content and length of this programme will depend on your new job role and where you will be working. This can be between one day for non-clinical staff and up to 10 days for inpatient clinical staff.
