Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, treating around 50,000 patients each year. We are located in a new, purpose-built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with administrative services based in Huntingdon.

Founded as a tuberculosis colony in 1918, Royal Papworth Hospital has established an international reputation for excellence in research and innovation. Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Band 6 Clinical Facilitator - Practice Development
Substantive role - secondment or fixed term considered

Full Time –Working Pattern 37.5hrs per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with adept interpersonal skills, drive and passion for multi professional practice development to join a dynamic team and to help the Trust maintain its position as one of the most innovative and leading NHS organization in the country.

This is great opportunity to lead the way for training and development of new and existing staff member's within the Cardiology department whilst forging close inter-working relationships with the wider clinical education and practice development team to support and ensure improvements in the delivery of the best possible patient experience.

The role also engages with the development of the wider clinical workforce, through collaborative working across disciplines and professions. The post holder will be responsible for the design, delivery, promotion, enhancement and evaluation of development and education needs through a variety of formats, including clinical support, skills based training, mentorship and presentations.

Candidates will need to have current professional registration, previous relevant clinical experience and competence within the hospital setting (cardiothoracic experience highly desirable) with evidence for supporting learning and development.

It essential candidates hold a teaching/training, mentor qualification or its equivalent, significant experience along with the passion to enhance the learning and development of others. Being able to demonstrate autonomous working and be a flexible team player is key to the role.

The post will enable the right candidate to develop their own portfolio in practice development, training, education and understanding learning as well as being supported in their own professional development as a member of the Clinical Education team
