ROUTINE HAEMATOLOGY SECTION MANAGER

HAEMATOLOGY

£40,057 - £45,839 per annum/pro rata (AfC Band 7) **ANNEX 21 75% TOP OF BAND FOR TRAINEES**

37.5 hours per week – FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT UNTIL 01/02/2023

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated state registered Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to support the team of BMS staff at Rotherham Trust on a fixed term contract. This would be an ideal developmental opportunity for experienced BMS staff looking to progress their CV.  This department offers training and development opportunities for the right candidates to further develop their skills and ambition.

The successful candidate will be based at Rotherham and directly lead BMS staff within Haematology to support the day-to-day service. The department uses 2x Siemens ADVIA2120 analysers for FBC and reticulocyte analysis, 2 x Stago Sta-R Max for routine coagulation assays, a Starrsed compact ESR analyser and a Siemens Hematek 3000 for peripheral blood film preparation. The individual will work closely with other routine section managers at BRILS and the Haematology BMS Lead.

 

To apply for the Haematology section manager BMS post, the successful candidate must be state registered with Health and Care Professions Council, have several years’ experience in an NHS Haematology/Transfusion laboratory, hold the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology or equivalent and a Masters or be working towards one. In addition, ideally the successful candidate should have experience with QPulse or other quality management systems, be familiar with audit processes, documentation writing such as SOPs and risk assessments.

 

Barnsley NHS Foundation Trust is one of five Trusts involved in the formation of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Network.  The aim of the Network is to deliver a Pathology Service that provides all SYB patients and clinicians with equitable access to high-quality, innovative laboratory medicine solutions that will ensure the best clinical outcomes for patients. 

A collaborative Network will also provide rewarding job and career opportunities for all staff.  An Outline Business Case, which described the Target Operating Model for the future Network, has been agreed between Partner Trusts.  The proposed Target Operating Model will ultimately lead to the consolidation of services across SYB.  As work progresses to establish the Network, staff will be consulted about proposals that may involve them

Standard Check: £18.00 + Administration cost of £3.69 = deduction from salary as a one-off payment.

Enhanced Check: £38.00 + administration cost of £3.69 = £13.69 deduction from 1st months’ salary, then deduction from salary over following 3 months.
