Use your IT expertise and experience to shape the way we manage our IT services.

Technology roles with this level of impact are very hard to find. Join NHS Blood & Transplant and you’ll be respected as the expert – with the freedom to act on your ideas and use cutting-edge technology and innovative tools to deliver success. All with the knowledge that what you’re doing is indirectly helping us save and improve lives by meeting the needs of donors and matching life-giving organs and blood to those who desperately need them.

About the role:

If you have an enviable understanding of modern IS/IT issues and a passion for getting all aspects of the IT Service Management lifecycle spot on, our Group Services Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS) team has the perfect role for you. Taking ownership of the strategic development of a Service Management approach, you’ll work closely with DDTS senior leadership colleagues, and autonomously too. Your aim? To ensure consistency in the way IT services are introduced, transitioned and managed.

But that’s not all.

We’ll also rely on you to ensure ITIL process ownership is in place and Service Management Process Maturity regular assessed, working where necessary with process owners to define and implement improvement action plans. Managing a Service Portfolio and working with Solutions Architecture and other DDTS colleagues to significantly reduce the number of IT services and ensure suitable documentation is in place will be important too. And, when it comes to defining and implementing a single IT services document repository and Service Management capability strategy or driving consistent and regular review policies, again, we’ll count on you.

About you:

This vital leadership role would be ideal for a flexible individual with a high degree of autonomy and proven experience of managing the full IT service management lifecycle. In addition to holding an ITIL Foundation qualification and having the equivalent of a master’s degree, key to success will be:

  • Highly developed, relevant specialist knowledge and expertise plus knowledge of general IT legislation such as the Data Protection Act and the Computer Misuse Act.
  • The logical thinking skills to understand highly complex situations and information, identify issues, gather, collate and sift information.
  • A flair for presenting complex and contentious information to a large technical and/or non-technical audience and articulating technical requirements from a business specification.
  • A proven ability to directly or indirectly lead and influence teams of diverse individuals and negotiate with and influence non-direct staff with regard to cross DDTS process issues.
  • A creative approach to complex problem and conflict resolution and the ability to react positively to organisational change.
  • A willingness to undertake travel and spend time away from base and participate in an on-call out of hours rota which may include evening, weekend or public holiday working.

This is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.

This advert will close at 23:59 on Wednesday 6th July 2022.

Interviews are anticipated to take place week commencing 25th July 2022. (Subject to confirmation)
