It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Healthcare Support Worker

Band 3

Hours per week: 37.5

Full time

Our nursing team is small, skilled and friendly working within a busy specialist ambulatory care outpatient setting. Our combined Outpatient Department is based at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. We facilitate the ongoing care and management of patients with cardiac disease and chronic respiratory diseases. We work as part of a number of multidisciplinary teams in a constantly evolving and innovative ambulatory care setting. We currently work on a Monday to Friday between 7.30 and 18.30.

We have an allocated team coordinator and expect all our staff to be able to effectively multitask and run multiple clinics ensuring all infection control risks are managed within the department. The patients’ experience should be optimised through good communication, team working and intentional rounding of the waiting area.

The successful applicant will require previous experience and be able to manage and prioritise competing demands in a complex clinic environment. Ideally we would like dynamic individuals who have already demonstrated continued development within the HCSW role and have skills in venepuncture, ECG’s, observations and managing patients within permitted guidelines. You will also need to have some IT skills and be able to effectively document into our EPR system.
