It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Role Title: Health Care Support Worker

Band 3

Substantive position: Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplant

Hours per week: 37.5 (Full time)

The 5North welcomes you to apply for a substantive band 3 health care support worker post in cardiothoracic surgery and transplant.

5 North is a 42-bedded ward, which is on the cutting edge of technology, providing surgical experience for staff caring for patients undergoing pioneering cardiac surgery as well as heart and lung transplantation.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join our motivated and friendly multi-disciplinary team. 5 North is in the process of developing a 4-bedded PCU area set within the existing ward for patients requiring a higher level of nursing intervention.

The overall role is to assist and manage a group of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. You will be expected to support induction and supervision of new Assistant Healthcare Support Workers. Following training and assessment, you will be expected to perform enhanced practices set for this role.

It is an essential criteria that candidates who apply for this role hold an NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent qualification. We ask that you have previous experience of working in cardiothoracic setting as a Band 2 Health Care Support Worker or equal to. This should be set out in your application.
