Founded as a tuberculosis colony in 1918, Royal Papworth Hospital has established an international reputation for excellence in research and innovation. Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

The Cambridge Heart and Lung Research Institute (HLRI) is a joint project between the University of Cambridge (University) and Royal Papworth Hospital (RPH) to create a world-leading research environment delivering high impact research, directly impacting on global cardiovascular and respiratory health. The HLRI includes a Clinical Research Facility which has been awarded funding from NIHR.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, efficient and enthusiastic individual to co-ordinate and manage a portfolio of experimental medicine clinical research studies, ensuring that studies are run to the highest standards incorporating Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

You will lead and manage a team of clinical research nurses and will oversee and manage the clinical activity within the HLRI CRF. As a member of the senior HLRI CRF team, you will contribute to the delivery of the HLRI CRF research agenda working in partnership with seniorHLRI CRF leadership to ensure research is conducted to time and target.

You will receive an excellent support network, training opportunities and a real chance to excel within a highly motivated team.
