Perinatal Peer Support Worker 3 x 37.5hrs

We have 3 posts available- 2 in Barnsley and 1 in Calderdale. We are able to consider part time applications but not less than 30hrs. We also welcome applications from people from diverse communities. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Perinatal Mental Health Team following a successful bid to expand our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with lived experience of Perinatal Mental Health illness to be involved in delivering peer support to help women referred to us providing peer-based interventions. The role will involve working with service users in their own home, carers, Trust staff, community groups and organisations.

You will have good interpersonal skills as the role involves building strong trusting relationships with women and their families during a critical time in their lives. Ideally you should have experience of supporting the development of peer-led or co-produced groups and projects.

Please note this post is only open to applications from women who have lived perinatal mental health illness experience – i.e. experienced mental illness during pregnancy or following child birth.

All applicants must have excellent communication skills and confidence and enthusiasm for working with perinatal partner agencies in networks that extend beyond traditional specialist mental health boundaries. 

The service operates Monday-Friday; 9.00am-5.00pm however successful applicants would be expected to have the flexibility to work occasional extended hours to facilitate service effectiveness.
