We are looking to recruit a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our talking therapies service situated in the gap between IAPT and secondary care Psychology. This service works with patients presenting with more complex needs in primary care. We are looking to recruit therapists that strive to innovate and want to make a real difference through the work they do both individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Working as part of a motivated, cohesive and well-supported clinical team, the post holder will be an experienced therapist with a proven record of working with clients presenting with complexity. Applications from therapists with additional training in modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) are welcomed, but not essential. Experience and training in working with trauma will be essential; EMDR qualifications would be beneficial.

Modality-specific clinical supervisors, appropriate for the caseload, provide clinical supervision and case management support is provided. Currently, therapists are expected to have a caseload of 18 contacts per week (or equivalent) within their caseload. This is modified according to whether the staff member is facilitating groups, attending MDT’s or supervising colleagues.

Clinicians are well resourced with IT and communications equipment, in addition to a comprehensive working from home set of equipment. This includes an external monitor, webcam, keyboard, mouse, headphones and a hub to connect everything to. The service uses the IAPTus patient administration system and operates on a near-paperless basis.

Appointees will need to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, service users and members of the public, respect individual rights to confidentiality, and complete tasks within given deadlines.

The successful applicants will have relevant qualifications, most likely at post-graduate level, have accreditation with an appropriate professional body and be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience.

This is an exciting and innovative opportunity to be a part of a service aiming to provide a service to those people who have a need that sits somewhere between IAPT and secondary care Psychology, This group of people have historically been underserved by psychological services.

For informal enquiries please contact us on 01375 898680 and ask to speak to Dr Richard Pione, Principal Clinical Psychologist.

Please note, that the team’s current position on working from home is a hybrid model. In practice, this looks like coming into the office on 1-to-2 days per week, and working from home for the remainder of the time. This is subject to change as we take regular guidance from both our NHS trust and governmental guidelines.
