Job Title: Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician Student

Area of work: Pharmacy Services, rotational across Trust depending on trainingplacement

Salary:Band 4 - Annex 21 (70% of Band 4 in Year 1, 75% of Band 4 in Year 2)

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Job type: Fixed term 24 month contract

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Pharmacy Departments are currently recruiting Pre-Registration Student Pharmacy Technicians to work at both Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester, and the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

We are looking for 4 full time individuals who have an aspiration to provide patient care and support by ensuring that our patients get the right medicine at the right time. This role will involve working in an acute hospital setting liaising with clinicians and working within multi-disciplinary teams.

To be eligible to apply, youmusthave the following qualifications:

GCSE’s: Math’s C, English and Science(at C or above) and 3 other subjects at a minimum of grade C .

Or

Pharmacy Services QCF Level 2 or equivalent with 12 months current experience and hold a functional skills level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Or

Three ‘A’ levels, one of which is a relevant science subject and Maths C (GCSE or equivalent).

Or

Degree in science or humanities and Maths C (GCSE or equivalent).

Please do not submit an application if you do not meet these minimum requirements, as these are set by National Framework and the education providers, as a minimum level of qualification for all trainees.

You must also be hard working, enthusiastic, have good communication and interpersonal skills, a positive and professional attitude, enjoy working with people, an ability to pay attention to detail and have a willingness to learn and work hard to complete your training. In return you will join a dedicated, forward thinking department who are currently working towards building plans for a 7 day service.

You will have the opportunity to complete the Level 3 qualifications required to join the General Pharmaceutical Council professional register as a registered Pharmacy Technician upon completion of the training program, with all the benefits and opportunities that the profession has to offer.

You will gain experience, skills and knowledge through a variety of teaching methods, including competence based assessment, a portfolio of evidence, classroom teaching, online learning and self-directed study.

You will follow a planned training rota which will guide you throughout all aspects of pharmacy services including dispensing for wards and outpatients, provision of advice to patients on actions and uses of medicines, preparation of sterile products and also stock management and procurement.

This position will require a commitment to study and revise in your own time, as well as some work provided time to complete your portfolio of evidence.You must be able to work as part of a team and demonstrate good organisational skills and time management, in order to be able to manage both work and study.

You will be expected to participate in the weekend and Bank Holiday rotas as a trainee, and working hours during the week will be full time, and be between the hours of 8.30am and 6pm.
