Our Orthopaedics & Spinal Unit has 20 beds and our Unit is conveniently adjacent to the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy department.Our specialist team’s work together to provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of Orthopaedics & Spinal conditions which include a high turnover of patients having hip and knee replacements, ankle surgery, all upper limb surgery and complex pelvic operations.


Job Profile

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work under direct/indirect supervision of the nursing staff and Consultants to aid with overall day to day operations ensuring overall care and safety to the patient, visitors and staff.


  • Job Location: This role is located at The London Clinic’s main hospital sitein London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. Shifts mainly include; rotational Long Days & Weekends.
  • Salary: The attractive salary range for this role is £21,498 - £28,270 per annum.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff in delivering a high standard of holistic care to patients, recognising their individuality, and promoting privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Preparing clinical rooms for procedures and assisting staff with administrative and clinical duties
  • Pre-registering, registering and charging patients using Meditech. Entering stats daily into computer system.
  • Perform, document and report clinical observations and report changes in patient’s condition to nurse in charge or Consultant. This may include temperature, manual blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Adhere to and promote The London Clinic policies/procedures and guidelines related to both professional practice and general issues.


Skills & Experience

  • Health Care Certificate or NVQ in Health Care Level 3.
  • Previous experience working in a surgical unit within an acute hospital setting.
  • Experience within Vital signs/blood glucose monitoring/urinalysis, as well as with venepuncture, ECG and bladder scan.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as being friendly and adaptable in your approach.
  • Polite and pleasant with an appropriate professional demeanour and also able to cope with stressful and sensitive situations.
