Data that saves lives every minute

Information and data is crucial to every clinical organisation. At NHS Blood and Transplant, however, it’s also tremendously complex. From two million annual blood donations to growing numbers of organs collected and supplied; this goes further than mere data protection - to saving literally millions of lives.

What’s more, you’ll be helping our Information Governance team on an ambitious strategic agenda to continue to develop ever-better processes that make us more efficient and effective and continue to enable us to embed GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Reporting directly to – and deputising for – the Head of Information Governance, this role will see you work closely with teams across the organisation as well as external partners. You’ll oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments, lead training programs, draft policies, procedures and guidelines, manage incidents and be the expert voice for colleagues, donors, recipients and patients.

To do this, a background in information governance or data privacy is essential. You will be an excellent communicator, tactful, inspirational and confident working with people at all levels with a good understanding about the legislation we adhere to.

After that, a relevant professional qualification will help. And the more experience you have in leading strategic change, implementing quality systems, delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders as well as supporting senior members of staff, the better.

Because your work affects everyone across the country, you will need to travel and occasionally work irregular hours and take overnight stays with prior notice.

In return, there’s a generous pension, and 27 days’ leave plus the 8 bank holidays. You’ll enjoy training and development opportunities from day one, covering leadership and management to scientific and clinical development.

While the professional attraction to shape a national organisation at a pivotal time is certainly outstanding, the personal reward of helping so many people brings an extra dimension that will make it a real highlight of your career.

This is a full time, permanent position – working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days.

This advert will close at 23:59 on Sunday 5th June 2022.

The interviews for this position will take place week commencing 20th June 2022. (Subject to change)
