The Trust is embarking on the biggest programme of clinical pathway transformation it has ever undertaken which will deliver care in Devon in a way that is both clinically and financially sustainable, ensuring that we do the right thing for our patients and carers, people and communities, as well as delivering a working environment which better enables our staff to deliver the best care they can every day.

The Chart Abstraction Team will support a number of clinics within NDHT covering the period immediately before go live and up to four months after. They will have the critical role of transferring data from paper records and other sources onto the EPIC system in support of North Devon District Hospital’s transition to MY CARE. The post holder will deal mainly with local clinicians and medical staff but will also have contact with key members of the Northern Devon MY CARE Programme Team such as Information Officers.

The ideal candidate will be required to work unsupervised mainly though they will have clinical / medical staff available to offer advice and support. Their work must be meticulously exact and they must have more than a basic understanding of medical related terms, and work as part of a team.

The Chart Abstraction Administrator will be based on site in Barnstaple at North Devon District Hospital, and will join the team in June for a 20-week period, on a zero-hour contract.

My Care NDHT - Transforming care together

We are embarking on a major programme of clinical pathway and digital transformation at NDHT, called ‘My-Care’. This work will involve the introduction of a fully integrated Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system matched with a significant investment in digital technology. We are working in partnership with award-winning EPR supplier, EPIC, to deliver this transformational programme of work.

This ground-breaking Programme is scheduled for go-live in the Summer of 2022. The My Care programme will be exciting and challenging with a focus on creating a digital working environment which will enable our staff to work more collaboratively and efficiently in delivering outstanding care to our patients and the wider community. The key to unlocking this major programme of change is the engagement and involvement of our staff in delivering the changes needed.

The My Care Programme will only be delivered successfully if we establish an enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated Programme Implementation Team. As part of the team we need to employ staff from all areas of clinical practice, administrative and clerical, and corporate areas such as HR, Service Development and Information Management and Technology.
