As a senior member of the DDTS (Digital, Data and Technology Services) team, you will be instrumental in working with third party software suppliers and our internal software delivery teams ensuring they are delivering high-quality solutions that are value-for-money. With a great deal of autonomy, you will assess our current suppliers and determine any changes that need to be made, working on a wealth of fascinating projects. With each day presenting you with new challenges, you will be at the heart of our work, helping us align technical needs with the software that has the scope to transform life outcomes.

 

This is a valuable opportunity to exert influence over our suppliers, and to shape quality experiences. We will therefore expect you to have experience of working with third party software suppliers in mixed technology environments, with a comprehensive knowledge of software development processes and methods. With experience of managing and improving services, you will be confident in your ability to set direction and evaluate the impact of your decisions, and you will understand how to design and develop test strategies for complex IT projects. As you will have a great deal of exposure to senior stakeholders across the organisation, you will need exceptional communication, influencing and leadership skills. Skilled in the development of application roadmaps, you will be a team-player who enjoys explaining complex technical information to a variety of audiences.

 

The role operates horizontally across our DDTS directorate and working closely with the Assistant Director for Solutions Delivery, you will get the chance to be involved in and influence a wide range of projects and initiatives. Previous examples over the last two years have included:

- Introduction of a performance testing regime across the directorate

- Major improvements in the SDLC with an external supplier to improve quality of releases

- Promotion of DevOps leading to successful roll-out to our biggest delivery team

- Cross-directorate review of our approach to environment management and use of test data leading to detailed report with recommendations for improvements
