Trust Doctor in Trauma And Orthopaedics (Core Training Equivalent Level)

We are looking for two posts at core surgical training equivalent level one/two to work in the surgical specialities at our friendly and supportive District General Hospital.  The posts are available in Trauma & Orthopaedics for an August 2022 start on a 12 months fixed term contract at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS foundation Trust based at North Devon District Hospital (NDHT).

Established in April 2022, the Royal Devon brings together the expertise of Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, embracing change and innovation to develop new medical models, new ways of working, ground-breaking research and huge levels of investment into new infrastructure, equipment and facilities. There has never been a better time to join us.

For applicants wishing to take up the posts, appropriate clinical supervision, training and support will be provided and the department is familiar with the full range of trainees and portfolios.  Our Medical Education Department is readily available to offer support.

The Trust and the Departments have a commitment to personal and professional development for each trainee / trust doctor. We encourage and enable all doctors (whether locum or substantive) to gain required competencies and offer advice on preparation of a portfolio, which can be used as evidence to support applications to further Specialty Training.

Applicants for this programme must hold a medical degree from an institution recognised by the GMC. They must have full GMC registration and a licence to practise. They should be able to demonstrate evidence of ability to undertake the core clinical and generic skills required of all doctors at the end of Foundation Training, as documented in the FP Curriculum. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate in English in a clinical environment.

Outside of work, with miles of golden beaches, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Devon offers an excellent quality of life and is consistently voted as one of the best places to live in England. Please search #loveNDHT on YouTube for more details.

All disabled applicants meeting the essential criteria of a post will be offered an interview. Should you, as a result of a disability, require reasonable adjustments to be made as part of the recruitment process (eg, venue access, information format, interpreter, etc) please do not hesitate to make a member of the recruitment team aware.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.

Interview date to be confirmed.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

According to many clinical targets, we rate as one of the best performing non-foundation trusts in England, because we treat patients in line with national waiting time standards, have very few hospital-acquired infections and meet our four-hour waiting times for urgent care. We have a huge range of clinical expertise that we share across professional spheres to ensure people get world-class care when they need it.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
