Bank Pharmacists

The Trust Staff Bank requires General Pharmaceutical Council registered pharmacists to work in the Pharmacy department and across the wider Trust. You should have a problem solving approach and be a professional role model. You will be able use your own initiative and be able to manage difficult situations as well as having the ability to work under pressure.

The hours are varied and flexible. Please note this is not a permanent post.

The Isle of Wight is unique in combining acute, ambulance, community, mental health and learning disability services in a single Trust, creating a truly ‘joined up’ integrated approach to healthcare. The Pharmacy department which is based out of St Mary’s Hospital is energetic and forward looking, with a strong culture of patient safety and service quality. We believe in technology supporting excellent clinical practice and releasing time to care, with electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) embedded in practice across the Trust and used creatively to enhance clinical practice, a fully integrated medicines management system that interfaces EPMA seamlessly with dispensing, stock control, clinical area automated medicines cabinetry and robotics within the pharmacy department.

The Island:

The Isle of Wight is easily reached from Portsmouth, Lymington and Southampton by ferry, catamaran or hovercraft with a fast train from London, and the hospital is only a short bus journey from all ferry terminals. The island offers a huge range of leisure pursuits, with 65 miles of coastline for water sports, and hosts several international sports and music events. Supported hospital accommodation is available on site, and alternative accommodation is available near the ferries if preferred.

Crossing the Solent:

Hovercraft travel – Trust employees (including those on the bank) have access to travelcards to use on a “when required basis” which can result in each crossing being only being £3.90

Wightlink ferries – Trust employees (including those on the bank) are able to access a single passenger fare for £6.20 on the FastCat or vehicle ferry. They can also access a single vehicle fare for only £29
