Clinical Pharmacy Manager

Job Reference: 415-S22-331

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (formerly Northern Devon Healthcare Trust)
£54,764 - £63,862 per annum pro rata

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacy Manager to lead, develop and inspire our small and dynamic clinical pharmacy team at Northern Devon District Hospital (NDDH) in Barnstaple. The role is based in the stunning rural location of North Devon which is close to superb local beaches and Exmoor.

This position offers an ideal opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist looking to develop their leadership skills working in a supportive and friendly environment.

You will work in partnership with colleagues within pharmacy and across the Trust to ensure that clinical pharmacy services within NDDH are delivered to a high standard.

This is a perfect time to join us as we prepare to introduce an electronic prescribing and medicines administration system during summer 2022.

The pharmacy department is a single site pharmacy which provides a service to the acute hospital where it is located as well as to the community hospital (South Molton) and other community sites.

In the acute hospital there is a full medicines management service to adult wards with an automated dispensary.

You should have significant clinical pharmacy experience within a hospital setting and be highly motivated to develop the pharmacy team to improve the quality of care for patients.

This role is a permanent full-time position but flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. The post holder will participate in the provision of general pharmacy duties as required by the service to include weekend working, public holidays, late duty and on-call.

Candidates should be aware that while this post is based in Barnstaple, there will be an opportunity to work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues within Eastern Services (Exeter) in the recently merged Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to shape the future of the wider pharmacy teams.

If you would like to discuss the role further or to arrange a visit contact the Interim Chief Pharmacist, Ms Sam Smith – or 01271 322621.

Closing Date: 12th June 2022

Interview Date: 23rd June 2022

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
