Fulltime Consultant Geriatrician

Do you want to join our dynamic team of Geriatricians and to work in a supported team of professionals to develop your career?

We are seeking to appoint 1.00 wte Consultant Physician with an interest in Geriatrics Medicine to join our expanding team and department. We invite candidates who have a passion for leadership and want to be part of a dynamic team and are willing to work in a fast paced and busy department. You will join a thriving Geriatric Department with physicians who have special interest in falls, Parkinson’s disease, frailty and syncope, continence, and research (with links to the University of Sheffield). We have Specialist nurses in Continence promotion and Falls and are developing a frailty service for Barnsley.

You will receive mentoring and support for this role and it is envisaged there will be regular feedback meetings. The successful applicant will participate in the unselected medical take with a frequency of approximately 1:4 weeks (midweek) and 1:8 weeks (weekends) with a mandatory rest day for weekend working (on the Monday immediately post on call weekend). Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching will be expected, the College Tutor is a member of the CSU and the Trust has a good record in getting candidates through PACES.

The Trust is in the early stages of developing a quality Improvement hub with the aim to help build the capacity and capability for improvement across the Trust providing advice and support on how to use quality improvement approaches and methodologies

All applicants should be fully registered with the General Medical Council, hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the date of interview.

Enhanced Check: £38.00 + administration cost of £3.69 = £13.69 deduction from 1st months’ salary, then deduction from salary over following 3 months.
