We are seeking to recruit a clinical psychologist with an interest in neuropsychology, to provide to input to a specialist Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation Service.

The Kite Unit is a 10 bedded unit providing multi-disciplinary assessment and rehabilitation to individuals whose behavioural presentation prevents them from accessing or engaging with neurorehabilitation services in other community or post-acute hospital settings. Individuals admitted to the Kite Unit will have experienced some form of neurological event or illness (e.g. traumatic brain injury, stroke, anoxia, infection) and may have a premorbid history of mental health problems. They require specialist assessment and intervention to meet both current needs and develop longer-term plans as appropriate. The Kite Unit can support individuals detained under the Mental Health Act where there is potential to benefit from their admission

The post-holder is a key member of the MDT and will provide neuropsychological assessment, formulation and rehabilitation as well as supporting other members of the team to develop a psychological understanding of patients’ difficulties. The post will be based at the Kite Unit which is based at the Western Community Hospital in Southampton but the job may involve travel to other sites within the Solent NHS Trust region. The post-holder will work primarily with in-patients but will visit some patients in their own home and will also provide input for family members.

We are a large Neuropsychology Department which consists of 8 Clinical Neuropsychologists/Psychologists in Neuropsychology working across the rehabilitation pathway. We offer regular accredited supervision and CPD, and there are excellent professional development opportunities.
