An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Safeguarding Team for a whole time Safeguarding Practitioner for Safeguarding Children, working predominantly within the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse or midwife with a public health registration to develop their safeguarding skills and knowledge, within the safeguarding arena. The post holder will use their excellent communication skills to provide safeguarding knowledge, advice and clinical expertise as the MASH health navigator role, and as required to all staff at Solent NHS Trust and within multi agency forums.

We are looking for a committed, professional individual who can demonstrate passion and drive for safeguarding. You will be working in a dynamic multi-agency safeguarding arena and as part of the Solent NHS safeguarding team; working closely with MASH and Solent staff, other health organisations, the four local Safeguarding Children Partnerships and adult safeguarding colleagues to ensure that the needs of children and young people are paramount.

You will be contributing mostly to Portsmouth multi agency safeguarding hub (MASH) as a health navigator, gathering health information, and supporting the B7 Mash lead in analysis, decision making and strategy discussions. The role will include, as required, the development and delivery of mash safeguarding training to staff. There is an expectation to support, where appropriate, safeguarding audits/ evaluations in relation to the MASH.

The Safeguarding Practitioner will work closely with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, MASH Lead and Specialist Practitioners to ensure appropriate quality assurance mechanisms in all areas of safeguarding practice are in place and be integral in developing effective communication strategies within the Trust and with other agencies and professionals involved in this area of work.

There will be an expectation, where appropriate, to develop knowledge of adult safeguarding practice to support the Trusts ‘Think Family’ approach to safeguarding, own professional development, and safeguarding succession planning.

Please note although this posts’ office base is in Portsmouth there may be a requirement, to work across Southampton, Hampshire and IOW to meet the safeguarding requirements of our organisation.
